Former teacher says, "Come teach us what you know"

"If you can't get a job in this country, start a school," jokingly says Andrea Reynolds, a 65-year old entrepreneur who lived in Canada for most of her adult life before returning to the United States for family reasons.

"Even in my hometown, Erie Pennsylvania, nobody wanted to hire a self-employed, older woman from another country who consulted to CEOs, (Coca-Cola, Campbell Soup) doctors, lawyers, management consultants and psychologists. I have no employer references or US work history." So, Reynolds decided to start a business that offers opportunities to independent contractors to teach short, affordable classes - both online and offline - that are jam-packed with useful information students can use right away.

Examples:
  • How to Sell Your Home Without an Agent or Broker
  • How to Get Paid Money You're Owed Without Lawsuits
  • Crisis Gifts: How to Help Family and Friends in Tough Times
  • How to Start a Mutual, Self-Help Support Group
  • How to Find Love After 50 or 60
  • How to Spot a Narcissist
  • How to Recognize Sweetheart Swindlers
  • What They Don't Tell You About Your First Colonoscopy

In addition to learning, the classes can benefit communities across North America, both socially and economically. If you can't afford to go to college, you can attend Crash Courses Online and learn something fun and/or profitable and connect with interesting people. How affordable will the classes be? From $5 to $99, depending on length, popularity and complexity of subject.

"We want positive,
socially redeeming classes; nothing immoral, illegal, or unethical," says Reynolds, "No classes on how to murder your boss or how to cheat on your taxes."

Teachers don't need degrees to be qualified to teach, although
Reynolds herself has a degree and has taught extensively for several adult education programs and also in public school systems. The school's motto is: If you've done it, come teach us how. She recognizes many smart people don't have academic backgrounds. That doesn't mean they won't be good teachers. If they have passion, they will impart their knowledge and wisdom in a way students will benefit.

Necessarily cost-conscious, her only cost so far is $12 for the domain name, ReynoldsUniversity.com. She created the website herself. You can contact her by email:
